NEW ALBANY, Ind. (Women's Basketball) – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Pomeroy basketball team traveled to face Indiana University – Southeast for a weekend matchup. SMWC started the game fired up but couldn't hang on and were defeated 110-80.
"We played well in the first half and kept our intensity up. We just went away from it in the second half and it cost us," commented Head Coach Deanna Bradley after the loss.
SMWC had four players with double digit point totals. The leader for the Pomeroys was senior Tara Parmer with 15 points, three rebounds, and three assists. She was followed by Maggie Reimer with 14 points, eight rebounds, and a steal. Regan Hubbard had a breakout game with 14 points, six rebounds, one steal, and one block. Not to be outdone, Delaney Kendall finished with 10 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
As a team, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College went 32.1 percent from the field, 23.5 percent from three point range, and 81.8 percent from the free throw line.
IU Southeast finished the game with five players in the double digits. Ashley Johnson led the way for the Grenadiers with 19 points, six rebounds, and one assist. She was followed by Madi Woods with 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Annie Thomas was the third leading scorer with 15 points five rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Josie Hockman recorded 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and one block. Rounding out the top scorers was Baylee Krueger with 10 points, six rebounds, and one steal.
Collectively, IU Southeast went 50.6 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from the arc, and 70 percent from the stripe.
SMWC will be back in action from Dec. 8-9 at Hamilton Arena for the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Basketball Classic. The Pomeroys will play host to Robert Morris University – Springfield, MacMurray College, and Greenville University.
