#PomeroyWSOC Falls to Harris-Stowe
St. LOUIS, Mo. (Women's Soccer) – The Saint Mary-of-Woods College Pomeroys women's soccer team took to the pitch for their first match of the 2017 campaign on Friday afternoon. SMWC went head to head with Harris-Stowe State University and were defeated, 5-1.
 
Senior Yadira Castellanos scored the lone goal for the Pomeroys at the 12:39 mark in the first half, 1-0. The Hornets answered back with a goal at the 26:59 mark for the last score of the first half, 1-1.
 
In the second half, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods fought hard but couldn't over power HSSU. Harris-Stowe scored four unanswered goals (53:47, 59:14, 83:10, 85:34).
 
SMWC goalies, Corre Matherly and Laura Taylor, combined for 12 saves on the day.
 
The Hornets recorded one save.
 
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods will travel to Cincinnati Christian University on Tuesday,  Sept. 5. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
