SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. – The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College athletic director Deanna Bradley has announced the hiring of Craig Hendry as the head coach of the women's soccer program.

Deanna Bradley stated, "We are so excited to bring Craig Hendry in as our new head women's soccer coach. Craig is a veteran coach who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Pomeroy program, and we are looking forward to the successful future of SMWC women's soccer."

As the new head coach for the Pomeroys, Hendry will step-in and lead the women's soccer team immediately. "To be involved with the sport I love in such an idyllic and historic setting is as good as it gets." mentioned Hendry as he will embark on his 22nd year of coaching.

Hendry most recently served as both the head coach for the men's/women's soccer U16-U19 teams at the Vigo County Youth Soccer Association (2012-2015). He was an assistant coach at DePauw University for six seasons (2009-2014).

At DePauw, Hendry was part of a coaching staff that earned an overall record of 80-22-13 with two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and three North Coast Atlantic Conference (NCAC) post-season berths; including a 2011 NCAC Championship title.

Craig stated, "I am grateful to Athletic Director Deanna Bradley for the opportunity to be a positive life force for the women's soccer team and for the wider Woods community. He added, "I am eager to get started with this new era, and relish the challenge of building a winning soccer program."

Hendry earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Religious Studies, from the University of Stirling (Stirling, Scotland) before moving to the United States in 1996. In 2003, he completed the 'Transition to Teaching' program at University of Southern Indiana.

Currently, Hendry is a 5th-grade mathematics teacher within the Southwest School Corporation in Sullivan, Indiana. He resides in Farmersburg, Indiana, with his wife Marie and has three children; Kirsten (20 years old), Craig (19 years old), and Keith (11 years old). Hendry was born in Glasgow, Scotland.
