PERU, Ind. (Men's Golf)—The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College men's golf team closed play at the Forester Fall Classic hosted by Huntington University on Saturday. The Pomeroys finished the tournament in eighth place with a tournament total of 661.
Indiana Wesleyan won the tournament with a total score of 620. Mt. Vernon Nazarene University came in second place with a score of 621. St. Francis University finished in third place with a score of 633. In fourth place was Indiana University – South Bend with a score of 635. Huntington University took fifth place with a score of 639. In sixth and seventh place were Indiana University – Kokomo and Spring Arbor University with scores of 641 and 643, respectively.
Colton Kuppler led the way for the Pomeroys as he came in tied for second place with a two-day total of 149. Nathan Higbie finished in 39th place with a score of 169. Braxton McIntyre came in 40th with a score of 170. In 42nd place, Benjamin Myers finished with a score of 173. Justin Wilson came in 45th place with a score of 178. Samuel Grimes and Blake Bennett competed as individuals and came in 46th and 49th place with scores of 179 and 187.
Sean Thomas of Mt. Vernon Nazarene took the tournament with a score of 147.
One of SMWC's linksmen earned a superlative as Colton Kuppler was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Pomeroys will hit the green again in the United State Collegiate Athletic Association National Golf Championship Tournament from October 8-10 in State College, Pa.
